StreetSMART Account Managers  

StreetSMART “account managers” are generally experienced qualified chartered accountants.  A StreetSMART account manager is responsible for a portfolio of clients (typically around 100 clients each), handling everything from fielding day to day phone calls and emails to attending to monthly and annual accounting and tax requirements. The account manager drafts fee estimates for their clients and also raise the invoice when a job is complete.  The ability to manage jobs and complete them within the set budget and timeframe is critical.

StreetSMART prefers the account manager to handle most work for their clients including GST returns, financial forecasts, tax planning and day to day advice (up to their level of ability). This enables the work to be done efficiently and helps the account manager to develop rapport and a real understanding of their clients’ businesses. Each account manager is fully supported by a client services assistant, “red” people, a senior accounting manager as well as the directors.

Account managers must to be able to handle responsibility, be well organised, articulate, technically competent in accounting and tax, and enjoy lots of client contact. They need to be high performers, self starters, good with technology, able to work within a systemised environment.

While being technically competent is necessary, that on its own will not ensure success as a StreetSMART account manager. Success also requires being proactive, professional and well organised. StreetSMART account managers have opportunities to grow and develop within the business.  Promotional prospects are limited only by their desire to stretch themselves, learn new things, and handle additional responsibility.
