Bernard Mazur BSc, BCom, MPhil(MSIS), CA (PP)
StreetSMART Director

Bernard is a chartered accountant and was previously director of Mazur and Co, chartered accountants.  Bernard is a self proclaimed “family man”.

Bernard was born in Auckland, and in 1987 completed his BSc (double major in Maths and Computer Science) at Auckland University and then promptly headed off to Sweden to work in Artificial Intelligence for IBM.

Two years later Bernard returned to NZ and went back to University completing a BCom and then a Masters of Philosophy (in Management Science & Information Systems) before obtaining his Certificate of Public Practice from the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants and joining his father in practice in 1996 in Manurewa, Auckland.

In 2002 Bernard’s father retired and Bernard became a sole practitioner, relocated the business to Mt Wellington, and then merged the business with StreetSMART in April 2010.  But the family flavour has not been lost.  Bernard is proud of the fact that many of his clients are the children of his father’s clients and that his two sisters work in the firm as well.

Bernard is particularly interested in tax planning issues, as well as business acquisitions and sales.

He has been active in the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants over the years and is a member of various special interest groups.  Since 2001 he has been a member of the Auckland Branch Tax Liaison Committee (chaired it for 5 years) and the Auckland Branch Public Practice Committee.  In 2008/2009 he served on the 100th Council of Chartered Accountants.

Bernard enjoys spending time with his wife, Tracey, and three young children and being involved in their activities such as rugby and cubs when time allows.  Bernard enjoys reading, leisurely tramping and the outdoors, cycling / mountain biking, animal husbandry/city farming.
